Calatrava gathers inspiration from nature and the animal world to create structures that are visually opposite, but are intrinsically reflective of these observations of nature. The house should reflect these similar ideals and Calatrava should be able to relate able the design process of 'his' own home and his work.

Mosman Council Parameters
           5 Wyargine Street, Balmora Mosman

Land description:
The Balmoral site slopes gently towards the streetscape and overlooks a seaside view. The site slope changes from 29.04m to 23.43m above sea level from the west edge of the site to the east facing the ocean. This gives an average gradient of 1.24m 2dp.  medium amounts of vegetation and matured trees are scattered about the property however no dominant landscaping has yet to be implemented. They sit majorily on the edges of the site. The main clusters including along the west and east edges of the site and also including two major trees that are located either side of the north and south edges of the site. The site has a consistent scale with a generally rectangular edged boundary line.
The site slopes towards an oceanic view that opens up on the east side of the site. The total site boundaries are 713m^2 in total. Street frontage level sits approximately a level below the minimum site slope (23.43m above sea level) therefore offering good privacy from viewers standing on the street or footpaths directly opposite the site.
The sites existing house is a single story unit that carries a distinct character that is uniform to the rest of the neighbourhood and is ironically 19th and early 20th century suburbia. The existing house is in poor condition and therefore will be pulled down and readied for new development and construction.

Key information:
·         Must pay attention to daylight, privacy and views, and access to amenities.
·         Height controls: 8.5 m tall
·         Site walls: 7.2 m tall This is specifically relevant for when there is a pitched roof. Exception to this rule is when the roof is flat, the maximum wall height can be 8.5m.
·         Maximum of two levels however will allow an attic within the  pitched roof
·         Building/ structure Ratio: 0.5 / 1
·         Building envelope setbacks: 900mm from the front boundary line for first level and 1.5m for second level.
·         Site boundaries: 713m2
F    Floor space ration is 1:50
      Therefore floor space: 356.5m2 max
·         Site set back: wall to body: 0.97m south side of site
image depicting sunrise and sunset areas, vegetation, audio pollution indications, view assets, neighbouring structures and lots, proposed site, topography information, Street scape information and north direction.
* lots on either side of the site consist of two storey rendered houses.
* along the edge of the boundary runs a shared stone wall parallel to the footpath.
* Edwards beach offers a recreational ear to the east of the site approximate 5km from the proposed site.
* Eastern Sea Breezes Circumambulate towards the proposed site from the seaside.
* In summer the sun rises from the east edge of the property allowing trees on that side of the property to block most of the light entering the sight.
* The site is situated in an R2 medium density surburbian neighbourhood allowing a 2-3 maximum storey to allow equality of view and integrity of privacy.
* Salt and wind factors must be considered as proposed site is classified a marine environment within 10km of body of water) in the design process for future construction to minimise adverse effects.
